To give you an idea what I'm aiming for, I've put together a few words that describe my feelings and thoughts about what's important to me relating to software. I pledge to follow these statements throughout whatever I'm about to do in the future.

Software that does what it's supposed to do. I strongly value simple but functional software over feature-rich bloatware. There is little point in piling feature after feature into a product just to please every single person. That's why I try to focus on what a product is supposed to do and make sure it does just that reliably and elegantly.

You've got better things to do. I know that you've got better things to do than sitting in front of a screen all day. That's why I emphasize on being able to get things done as quickly as possible so that you can get on with your day.

Protecting your privacy. By asking you to use one of my products, it is essential that you can trust me to keep your data private. I hate spam and intrusive advertisement just as much as you do. That's why I pledge to handle your data just the way I'd want others to handle mine: securely and discreetly.

Seamless Software. Great software integrates seamlessly into your workflow. It ought to be a goal of every developer to make sure that whatever data you care to enter is available in non-proprietary formats. This ensures that you needn't worry if you decide to change the product somewhere along the way.

Using your computer shouldn't be a chore. Not astonishingly some people feel insecure and frustrated when having to use their personal computers in ways they haven't thought of before. I think this is due to the fact that most I.T. people don't have the average person in mind when they develop solutions to our problems. I try to do so! In fact I take this so seriously that I try to write software even my mother could use.
